These homemade dog biscuits have protein, fiber and healthy fats for your furry best friend. They are a breeze to make and pups love them!
Have you ever looked at what is in store-bought dog treats? Typically junk. Unless you buy the expensive ones. However, the problem with those is that they are, well, expensive. So, I decided to try my hand at making our sweet and beloved Max homemade dog biscuits.
Baking rustic treats (sourdough, skillet apple crisps, chocolate chip cookies, etc.) has always been my favorite way to bake. No fuss and I’ve find beauty in simplicity. Therefore, trying my hand at dog treats wasn’t too far of a stretch for me.
Also, our dog, Max, doesn’t seem particularly picky about what he eats most of the time, so I knew whatever I concocted would most likely be a crowd pleaser.
Additionally, I knew if I was in charge of the ingredient list, I could A.) use quality ingredients and B.) utilize already-owned pantry staples.
Side note: I get asked often what type of dog Max is. He is an Australian Labradoodle and the most laidback dog ever. We just love him. I mean…look at these puppy photos?! It was love at first sight.
When I say these treats are easy, I mean it! It is a simple dough and my kiddos help me throw it together often. We very the shape of the treats often too! Sometimes we go with bone cookie cutters like these. Other times we use ones shaped like some of the kids’ other favorite dog breeds like these or these.
If you own or know a special pup, give these homemade dog biscuits a try today!

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Mix together flour, oats and salt in a large bowl.
In another bowl, whisk oil, eggs, beef broth and peanut butter until combined.
Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix until blended.
Dust some flour onto your counter and, using a rolling pin, roll out dough to about 1/2 inch thickness.
Using a dusted cookie cutter, cut out as many biscuits as possible. Transfer biscuits to a cookie sheet. Re-roll dough and repeat process for remaining dough.
Bake the biscuits for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown. (Baking time may depend on the size of your cookie cutter.) Turn off the oven, crack the door open and let the biscuits dry out in the oven for 1-2 hours.
Store dried and cooled biscuits in an airtight container for up to one month.
