This copycat version of Trader Joe’s Everything but the Bagel seasoning is the closest I have found to the original recipe. A versatile seasoning that also works with Whole 30, paleo, keto, and low carb diets, it is a pantry must–have.
If you have never tried Trader Joe’s Everything but the Bagel (EBTB) seasoning, you are missing out, friend! I first tried it at the recommendation of a friend, and I now reach for it to sprinkle on everything.
It includes sesame seeds (black and white), poppy seeds, sea salt, dried onions, and dried garlic. So, basically all the seasonings that are on an “everything” bagel, hence the name Everything but the Bagel. 😉
Not having a Trader Joe’s close by to be able to grab a jar whenever I need it, I tried a copycat recipe and am now hooked. It is as easy as dumping a few ingredients into a bowl, doing a quick mix to blend, and then storing in a container. You can store in an air-tight jar, like a mason jar, or in a spice jar like these that I have all my spices in.
One of the best things about making your own version is that you can adjust the spices to your own tastebuds.
Here are a few ways to use EBTB seasoning:
- Sprinkle on hard boiled, scrambled, or over easy eggs
- Add to avocado toast
- Or just sprinkle on an avocado. Seriously yummm!
- Add to grilled or baked chicken breasts
- On baked fish for a whole other level of yumminess
- Sprinkle on a lettuce salad. You will be amazed how much flavor it adds. Don’t even need dressing
- Mix in with grass-fed beef for hamburgers full of flavor
- Of course, you have to try it on a plain bagel slathered with cream cheese
- Add cream cheese to celery sticks, then sprinkle on top
- Slice cucumbers and top with cream cheese, sprinkle on for the perfect snack
- Roast vegetables, like cauliflower or broccoli, with EVOO and sprinkle EBTB seasoning all over
- Perfect steak seasoning
- Mix it with sour cream or cream cheese for a yummy dip or as a replacement for salad dressing
- Mix in with tuna and mayo
- Add to your popcorn
Seriously the best! Once you start using it, you will find yourself adding it to everything.
