If there is one dessert that screams summer, it is s’mores. The ooey, gooey marshmallow paired with melted chocolate is sure to be a summertime favorite for all. I have always made the classic graham cracker and Hershey’s chocolate s’mores, until a friend pulled out chocolate chip cookies. They were so good that I was inspired to try some variations on the traditional s’mores.
I am so excited that it is finally starting to feel like summer, and the perfect way to end a summer day is gathering around a fire pit. No matter what the menu might be, there always seems to be room for s’mores.
Growing up, we spent summers camping or at our lake cottage in the Northwoods in Wisconsin, and s’mores were a given when it came to summertime desserts. The only deviation from the traditional s’mores that we ever had was whether to use regular graham crackers or cinnamon graham crackers. Then, we would all roast our marshmallows to our own liking. The perfect golden brown marshmallow is just the way that I like it. Perfect for melting the chocolate, and nice and gooey on the inside. Yummy! Instantly takes me back to my childhood, with marshmallow hanging off my chin and sticky fingers.
I still find myself going to s’mores for a perfect summer dessert option. Whether hosting a backyard barbeque or ending a summer day of swimming, s’mores are the perfect treat. Simple, quick and easy foods that don’t take a lot of time to prepare is key to being able to enjoy yourself. S’mores are the perfect dessert to be able to do just that. Everyone makes their own, so you can sit back with your Summertime Sangria and enjoy yourself.
