Father’s Day is coming up and if you are looking to make a delicious meal for a special dad in your life, you have to try our Perfectly Grilled Filet Mignon.
I mean, can it get more manly than a grilled steak dinner?!
Filet Mignon is actually my husband’s and my favorite cut of steak. It is tender, not fatty and has amazing flavor. We make it year round for special occasions. In the fall, winter and spring, we will cook it indoors, searing first in a cast iron skillet and then finishing it in the oven.
However, in the summer, we go straight to the grill to keep the house cool while getting the steaks hot! Read below for the easiest way to achieve Perfectly Grilled Filet Mignon…beautiful grill marks and all!

Drizzle steaks with olive oil and rub on both sides. Season well with salt and pepper to taste. Allow steaks to sit for 30 minutes before grilling to bring steaks to room temperature.
Heat grill to medium-high/high heat. Allow the internal temperature of the grill to reach 500-550 degrees.
Place steaks on grill at an angle. If the back of the grill were 12 o'clock, place steaks turned to 2 o'clock for 2.5 minutes.
Then, turn steaks to the left to face "10 o'clock" and grill for another 2.5 minutes. (5 minutes total on the first side for medium-rare. If you prefer medium doneness, cook for 6-7 minutes on each side and for well-done 8+ minutes per side.)
Flip over steaks and repeat steps 3 & 4 on uncooked side.
Remove steaks from grill, place on a plate and cover with foil for 5 minutes to rest.
Enjoy!

Note: It is important to evaluate the thickness and temperature of your steaks prior to grilling. These instructions are meant for steaks about 2 inches thick at room temperature. If you have thinner steaks, reduce the grilling time. Always allow steaks to sit at room temperature for 30 minutes prior to grilling.
