If you have read any of my latest posts, you probably know by now that I love the summertime. Yet another reason to add to my list of why I love the summer is all the light and refreshing drinks.

A white sangria is the perfect summer drink. Summer fruit soaked in white wine, then topped off with lemon lime soda, this summertime sangria is the absolute perfect refreshing drink to sip on at the end of a hot day. And with the red and blue fruit, it is the perfect amount of patriotism for the 4th of July or Memorial Day! ??

All about the red, white and blue! ❤️???

Besides the fact that this is full of flavor and delicious, it earns extra points for me because it takes no time at all to make. If a drink recipe has a lot of ingredients or mixers — sorry — it’s not for me! And because it needs to be made a few hours in advance so the fruit can meld with the wine, there’s no rushing around to mix up this drink right before your guests arrive. Anything to make the summer a little less chaotic, right?!

When choosing a white wine, pick one that is dry, unoaked and crisp. Pinot Grigio and Sauvignon Blanc are perfect choices. Don’t hesitate to use any wine that you like though. Moscato also makes a tasty, sweeter sangria. There is no need to splurge on a high-end, expensive bottle, since it will sit in the refrigerator for a few hours and soak up all the flavors of the fruit.

Every patriotic drinks needs some stars, right?!?

How to make the Perfect Patriotic Summer Sangria:

First, prep your fruit by washing. I used strawberries, blueberries, red raspberries, and added a thick slice of an apple shaped into a star that I then sliced into thin slices. Slice the strawberries. Add the fruit to a pitcher.

Pour the white wine over top of the fresh fruit. Stir and chill for 3 to 4 hours. *note: the longer the fruit sits in the wine, the more red it will make the drink

When serving, add some fruit from the pitcher to each glass. Fill each glass about 3/4 full with sangria from pitcher. Add lemon lime soda to top off each glass. Enjoy!
