The March book for our monthly reading challenge was Anxious People by Fredrik Backman. Check out the full review below!
Summary
Anxious People was such a fun and different novel. By the same author as A Man Called Ove, this was a novel about a bank robbery gone wrong. But as you will find out as the story continues, it is actually about a lot more. There are so many different stories and emotions described in this novel.
Beginning with a botched bank robbery, and ending with a hostage situation and failed police investigation, this story is witty and funny. The policemen that are investigating are a father-son duo and their interviews with robbery and hostage witnesses are brutally honest and funny. Some of the characters will make you laugh out loud! During the investigation, the two men learn a lot about each of the hostages and even a little about themselves.
A book about human connection and the way that all of our lives are intertwined, this story will make you laugh and cry. Fredrik Backman does a wonderful job of describing all the ways that we are all…anxious people.
Rating
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This book earns 4 out of 5 stars. It was fun and unexpected. You will love it! The only lost star is because a few times I had to go back in the chapter to remember the details of which character was speaking. There are so many characters and stories within the larger story that I occasionally became confused.
If you enjoyed Anxious People…
If you liked this selection, you will love another book by Fredrik Backman: A Man Called Ove. It is about a man who prefers to live alone. It is about both his despair, and his hope. You will love him by the end of the book! Both funny and charming, this is a great read for a book club!
April Selection
Our selection for next month is The Henna Artist by Alka Joshi. I have had a couple of friends who already read this and LOVED it! We are excited for this one!
