Friday Favorites: May

School is finally out for the summer, and we are in full summer mode! The weather is starting to cooperate, and quarantine life is starting to feel not so bad sitting poolside.

Let’s take a quick look at a round-up of some of our favorite finds for the month.

Kid Friendly Snacks

Number 1: Healthy Snacks for Kids

Why do kids think they need to eat all.day.long?!? If they are going to snack, might as well give them some healthy options! Brittany did a whole post on Healthy and Easy Snacks for Kids that even you will want to snack on. The raspberries with chocolate chips are one of my personal favs!

Chicken Taco Salad

Number 2: Chicken Taco Salad

Speaking of healthy, you have to make this chicken taco salad. As soon as the temps start to rise, I tend to like lighter meals, and this is the perfect summer alternative to the traditional Taco Tuesday … or any other day of the week! Chock full of flavor, and can we talk about how pretty it is? {Swoon!}

Tie dye for kids

Number 3: Tie Dye Kit

Every day that I have a package arrive, it seems like there is at least one tie dye item in it. I can’t get enough of it for the summer. Kelly used this tie dye kit to make tanks with her girls that are so groovy. 😉 For under $10, you can get everything needed to make two tanks. They are fun and easy to make, and the vibrant colors withstand the washing machine.

Nail art stickers

Number 4: Nail Art Stickers

Adding some nail art stickers to your “manicure” this summer is such a fun way to start off the summer. My daughter picked some fun stickers like pineapples and flamingos to put on top of her summer colors. They are so easy to place using a pair of fine-pointed tweezers that come with, and then just add a clear top coat to make them last longer.

best drug store mascara

Number 5: Mascara Dupe

In the summer months, I like to wear minimal makeup. Throw on some tinted sunscreen for my face, add mascara, and I am ready. I don’t know what it is about wearing mascara, but it just makes me feel like I am ready to take on the day. That, and a little a lot of caffeine! L’Oreal has this mascara that is a great dupe for the Too Faced Better than Sex mascara, for half the price. Our eye doctor (Kelly) also recommended the base primer that helps to set the mascara.

resuable cup

Number 6: Reusable Cups

These are my go-to reusable cups that I grab every day. I usually have two or three scattered throughout the house or outside on the patio table. (Yes, exactly what I nag on my kids about not doing!) I like to fill them up with cold brewed coffee, or add lemon water and sip out of all day.

sun hat

Number 7: Sun Hat

My favorite skin esthetician gives the best advice: apply facial sunscreen of at least 30 spf every morning, reapplying every two hours if in the sun, and wear a hat when in the sun. This hat is the one I grab to wear while sitting poolside, and I also pack it to go on our trips to our lake cottage and it does not lose its shape.

Protect your face from damaging UV rays. Signed, A 40-something-year-old that spent her high school years in a tanning bed. 😉 XO

cell phone charger station

Number 8: Charger Station

All the cords to the iPads tangled on the counter was driving me bonkers. Enter this docking station. There is room to charge up to six devices, comes with 6 USB fast ports and 6 short fast-charging cables. It has been a life-changer for me! It can be used to charge iPads or tablets, as well as cell phones. I cannot recommend this enough!

favorite shorts

Number 9: Favorite Shorts

I have these chino shorts in every available color. For under $15 (on sale), they are a steal! The 3.5″ length is perfect for being on the go, chasing and playing with kids, and still providing coverage. They do not ride up and stick to you when we are having our hot and humid Northern Illinois weather, which is why I love these so much. They fit TTS.

Another pair of my favorite shorts are the scalloped edge shorts. So cute to instantly dress up an outfit!

favorite cookbook

Number 10: Magnolia Table A Collection of Recipes for Gathering Cookbook

Big Joanna Gaines fan over here! And her newest cookbook does not disappoint. If chicken pecan asparagus casserole, dutch oven lasagna, and oatmeal cream pies — just to mention a few — just made your mouth water a bit, you need to grab her new cookbook.

Hope you enjoyed some of our favorites this month!
