Who doesn’t love The Pioneer Woman, Ree Drummond! We love her cookbooks and her delicious recipes. You may have watched her on Food Network or visited her blog, but her best work is in her cookbooks!
I believe I own every cookbook that she has written…and some of her children’s books as well! This now classifies me as an expert on frontier cooking. 😉
Her recipes are total comfort food. If you are looking for the perfect recipe for a family gathering, Sunday night dinner, or potluck, Ree is your girl. She may add a bit too much butter and cream cheese at times, but that might just make the dishes even more comforting. Caution: This post contains a lot of butter!
Today I am sharing her “greatest hits.” These are Stickers and Stilettos’ tried and true favorites- dishes that have become tradition and that I have made over and over again.
All the cookbooks are great, but here is the evidence that the first one was the best! My copy is stained and all the pages are falling out. It is a prized possession.
Here’s the list in order of amazing-ness!
{TOP 10}
1. Comfort Meatballs
A little time consuming with the hand rolling, but a winner every time. I double or triple the recipe and freeze some for later. It is also very handy to have some of her basic meatballs in the freezer for busy nights!
2. Mashed Potatoes
A perfect counterpart for the comfort meatballs or pot roast. With that much butter, what is not to love?!
3. Lasagna
So happy a friend made this for me years ago when the original cookbook was released. Slighty unexpected with the meat sauce on the top and a bit of a spicy kick, but it is now the only lasagna I make.
4. Cinnamon Rolls
They seem complicated, but are actually great for beginning bakers. Kids love to help spread the cinnamon sugar and taste test! Definitely make these in aluminum pans to pass out to friends!
5. Chicken Pot Pie
Perfect for a family dinner, the sauce makes guests tempted to lick the plate!
6. Blackberry Cobbler
This one is a classic for how simple it is. You could substitute any berry… but please serve warm with ice cream.
7. White Chicken Enchiladas
The roasted pepper and white sauce make these my favorite!
8. Baked Beans
These are easy to throw together and a tasty make-ahead for a party. This recipe is definitely for a group.
9. Creamy Rosemary Potatoes
Nothing against those dehydrated potatoes from a box (love them too!), but these scalloped potatoes are the best side dish for just about anything.
10. Perfect Pot Roast
Another Sunday night dinner request, this pot roast recipe is the best!
Now you are all set on meal inspiration! I hope your family enjoys these recipes as much as mine does!
