Maybe you are a stay-at-home mom and you just want a day a week to yourself; a teacher that has the summers off and you want to get some projects done around the house; a part-time or full-time working mom that has to send your kids to daycare all day, five days a week; or you have lots of summer ‘adult’ plans. Whatever the case may be, summers mean that you end up utilizing the services of a babysitter or daycare provider more often than during the school year.
Now that school is getting ready to start back up, this is the perfect time to show your summer babysitter or daycare provider a little appreciation for all the extra time she spent with your kids over the summer! After all, she was the one that had to change your kids into and out of their swimming suits every day, wipe up their ice-cream-covered mouths, and kiss lots of skinned-up knees, while you had a little kid-free time (even if it was at work)!
During the school year, I have to send my non-school-aged kids to an at-home daycare a couple days a week. In the summer, she ends up watching all three of my kids. We have been blessed with a great daycare provider that goes above and beyond and makes sure all the kids have a fun and memorable summer. Today Mallory came to me with the idea that they should do something for their babysitter to show their appreciation for all the fun projects and trips they did over the summer. I thought that was a great idea!
Here are some ideas that I have come up with to show your summer babysitter a little love!
-
Of course, you can’t go wrong with chocolate. Mallory wanted to bake her babysitter brownies and take them as a treat to share with the rest of the daycare kids at snack time. Donuts, cookies, cupcakes, cheesecake, if you know what her favorite treat is, buy or bake up a batch. Consider baking some homemade donuts and surprising your babysitter with a special treat!

Caffeine! What babysitter doesn’t need an IV drip of caffeine most days?!? A 12-pack of diet coke, a gift card to Starbucks, coffee and a mug, tea, whatever she likes to help aid her stay awake all day is something she will for sure be ecstatic about.
-
If your babysitter likes to sit outside and enjoy her morning cup of coffee before the kids begin to show up for the day, a cable knit cardigan like this one is the perfect gift!
-
It seems like every time I walk into our babysitter’s house, she has a candle or diffuser going. Either would make a perfect gift! My absolute favorite candle is one called Choose Happiness that I buy at Target. It is the perfect light, clean scent!
-
Wine is always a sure win! After an extra chaotic day, she can sit down, put her feet up, and sip a glass to unwind.
-
When your babysitter is busy entertaining other people’s kids all day, the last thing she wants to do is think about what to make her own family for dinner. A gift certificate to a local restaurant is something that she will for sure appreciate.
-
We live in a small town, and our high school sporting teams are important. A perfect way to show your sports-loving sitter how much you appreciate her is by buying a season pass to high school sporting events. This is a perfect gift for any high-school-aged sitters you used, as well!

All of us at Stickers and Stilettos agree that books make the perfect gifts! Check out some of the books that we love, and pick one that she will enjoy reading.
-
For those mornings that she wants to hit her snooze button a few extra times, she will thank you for your favorite dry shampoo that you give her.
-
Is your babysitter trying to up her daily water intake? A Swell Water Bottle will help her to keep cold water on hand at all times.
-
Lotion is always perfect to gift to anyone. I love the Philosophy line, and this is one of my favorites that is a perfect scent for relaxing at the end of the night.
