In Five Years by Rebecca Serle was our August book of the month. If you have been following along with our Book-A-Month Reading Challenge, you just finished this book. Let us know if you loved it by leaving a comment below! Here is our full book review for In Five Years:
Summary
In Five Years follows perfectly predictable Dannie through her late twenties in the bustling city of New York. She has just been offered a position at one of the city’s top law firms and she is engaged to her boyfriend, David. She really has it all. That is, until she wakes up in an apartment that is not her own and the television says that the date is five years in the future. Everything has changed.
As she falls asleep again, she wakes up back in her own apartment and with her fiance. It all felt so real….she must figure out what her vivid vision meant and, more importantly, how to make sure it does not become a reality.
Dannie soon learns that her very best friend is very sick. Her penchant for order and planning cannot help her to help her friend. Through her best friend’s illness, Dannie learns a lot about herself and about the definition of love.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
In Five Years earns 4 out of 5 stars! First off, this was very easy to read. It is a smaller book at only 288 pages. This is a quick and fun read. I loved the escape into downtown New York and the busy city lifestyle of a lawyer. If you are looking for a good book to begin your fall reading, this novel is a great start!
This book reminded me of Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. If you loved reading that novel, you definitely need to check this out!
Next Selection
The book we are reading in September is The Midnight Library by Matt Haig. I am soooooo excited about this one! This book has many good reviews! This book is on track to be one of the top books of 2021:
Somewhere out beyond the edge of the universe there is a library that contains and infinite number of books, each one the story of another reality. One tells the story of your life as it is, along with another book for the other life you could have lived if you had made a different choice at any point in your life. … What if you had the chance to go to the library to see for yourself?
The Midnight Library
I hope your book club reads this one along with us!
See you next month!
