Life is rough! For many reasons, I deal with anxiety on a daily basis. Some is more simple and silly. Like, my sons have peed on the toilet seat, AGAIN! But, some is more deep seeded and doesn’t just get wiped clean.
For me, Anxiety became a deepening issue in 2014 for several reasons. Currently, the anxiety is at a high. I’m in the middle of a divorce. We still live together and will for a few more months. I’m buying a farmhouse, renovating and then, moving. I’m constantly worried about the costs of renovating or furnishing the house. But, mostly I am worried about my kids and how they will be affected by everything.
It’s been difficult to keep the anxiety at bay. Most days I just want to stay home and not deal with people. But, I have 3 kids and things to do. So, sitting around, feeling sorry for myself isn’t an option.
Here is a small list of things that help me cope with my rough days:
- Play with your kids
- Read a good book
- Have lunch with a good friend and laugh
- Watch your favorite Comedy (The Office is my go-to)
- Jam out to fun and upbeat music (upbeat being the cue word)
- Go walking with your Bestie
- Reconnect with an old friend
- Meditate (I use the Muse app and headband from Amazon)
- Talk regularly to a therapist
And, there is no shame in going to see your Doctor about a prescription that may help you smile more and cry less. You are not alone, even in your darkest hour.
Hugs,
Rachel
