This spicy margarita recipe is the perfect cocktail to have at your next fiesta. The spicy, slightly sweet & clean flavors take it over the top. So refreshing!
The first time I had a spicy margarita, it was at one of those super hipster establishments. It cost $15 and was only a 3 sip cocktail. Though the practical side of me was appalled, the foodie in me was in love.
Fast forward 10 years, I decided its time to master the spicy margarita at home. I’m not sure what took me so long to get to it. I guess raising 4 small humans sidetracked my mixology dreams. Alas, I’m back! After FIVE tries, I developed the perfect recipe and I’m so proud to share it with you.
Enjoy!

Pour a small amount of the salt onto a plate. Make a small slit in the lime half and run the rim of a glass through it. Then, tap the rim of the glass around the salt to coat. Fill with ice and set aside.
Throw the jalapeño slices into a cocktail shaker (amount depends on the level of spice you want) and muddle using medium force. Fill the shaker up halfway with ice. Add the tequila, Cointreau, agave, juice of the 1/2 lime, and a splash of the freshly squeezed orange juice.
Shake vigorously until the shaker becomes frosty. Strain into the salted glass. Garnish with a slice of lime and jalapeño. Enjoy!
